PM Modi Transfers Rs 20,500 Crore to Farmers and Launches Key Projects in Varanasi

Concurrently, he inaugurated multiple developments in Varanasi, including infrastructure advancements, tourism projects, and the Smart Distribution Project with an investment of over Rs 2,200 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the 20th instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, disbursing more than Rs 20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9.7 crore farmers on Saturday. This latest release elevates the total distribution under the scheme to over Rs 3.90 lakh crore since its inception.
Initiated in February 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of land-holding farmers, providing Rs 6,000 annually in three equal instalments via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. During his visit to Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for several key projects worth approximately Rs 2,200 crore.
PM Modi's itinerary in Varanasi included launching the expansion and enhancement of critical infrastructure, such as roads and railway overbridges, to alleviate traffic congestion. Significant investments were made in power infrastructure through the Smart Distribution Project, and tourism received a boost with the redevelopment of riverfronts and historical sites. The Prime Minister's efforts aim to improve urban and rural corridors while preserving cultural heritage.
