Rashtriya Janta Dal Member of Parliament, Manoj Kumar Jha, has leveled serious allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing it of deliberately undermining the democratic process. According to Jha, the Commission is engaging in what he terms a 'special intensive deletion' of voters, apparently disregarding instructions from the Supreme Court. He suggests that the Commission operates under undisclosed motives that aim to suppress voter participation.

In response to these allegations, the Election Commission has announced substantial increases in the remuneration of its Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other electoral staff. For the Commission, maintaining pure electoral rolls is fundamental to a functioning democracy. As part of these efforts, the Commission has decided to double the annual remuneration for BLOs and increase compensation for other roles involved in the preparation and revision of electoral rolls.

The ECI's recent announcement marks the first honorarium adjustments since 2015 and underscores its commitment to ensuring transparency. Additionally, a special incentive has been approved for BLOs for Special Intensive Revision operations, which will commence in Bihar. The Commission frames these financial enhancements as a testament to the importance of its personnel's hard work in maintaining electoral integrity.
