During a significant visit to his Lok Sabha constituency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday prioritized flood relief efforts in Varanasi, engaging with key local officials to assess the situation. This visit marks Modi's 51st trip to the city as he kept a keen eye on preparedness and relief operations necessitated by incessant heavy rainfall, which has significantly affected the region.
With floodwaters extending into various city parts due to the rising Ganga River levels, Modi emphasized that local authorities must provide unwavering support to affected residents, especially those sheltering in relief camps set up across different areas. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for further potential impacts from continuous rainfalls over August 2-4.
Amidst these challenges, PM Modi also advanced his developmental agenda by releasing the 20th PM Kisan Samman Nidhi installment, pumping over Rs 20,500 crore into farmers' accounts nationwide. Additionally, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for numerous infrastructural projects in Varanasi, highlighting extensive road and power upgrades across urban and rural corridors to promote regional growth.
