Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reiterated the central government's focus on ensuring the timely supply of fertilizers to farmers as well as boosting agricultural productivity per hectare during his speech at the release of the PM KISAN Samman Nidhi's 20th installment.
He remarked that agriculture is integral to India's economy, describing service to farmers as akin to worship. He asserted that research in agriculture will now be driven from villages, with the aim of enhancing farming profitability under initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana.
Chouhan detailed the government's direct financial transfers to farmers and praised Bihar's contribution to 'makhana' production. He emphasized the significance of schemes like the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism, which ensures financial aid reaches farmers directly, in line with a farmer-centric approach.
