On Saturday, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, a former BJP MP, celebrated the acquittal of all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, a decision handed down by the Mumbai NIA special court. Thakur, who was among those exonerated, lauded the verdict as a triumph for patriots, asserting that those who pursued the case have been justly punished.
Thakur, speaking to ANI, emphasized the spirit of patriotism and resilience, stating, "Where there is patriotism, traitors cannot survive." She accused the Congress of politically motivated actions against nationalists and reiterated her dedication to serving the nation despite the challenges she faced during the legal battle.
The court's decision came after the examination of over 300 witnesses, eventually leading to the dismissal of charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Arms Act. Thakur and six others stood accused in the 2008 blasts, which resulted in the loss of six lives and injuries to many others. Compensation was ordered for victims by the Maharashtra government following the acquittal.
