In a significant development on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally transferred more than Rs 20,500 crore to over 9 crore farmers nationwide as part of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. This move included Rs 184.25 crore benefiting 8,28,787 farmer families in Uttarakhand, marking a substantial boost for the state's agriculture sector.
Attending virtually, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the central government's ongoing efforts to double farmers' incomes and improve their living standards. With this latest installment, Uttarakhand's farmers have received over Rs 3300 crore in support. He highlighted initiatives such as increased minimum support prices, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for crop insurance, and the Soil Health Card scheme to enhance agricultural productivity.
Moreover, Chief Minister Dhami outlined state-specific schemes to further aid farmers, including interest-free loans of up to Rs 3 lakh, and an 80% subsidy on farm machinery. Exploring innovative policies, the state focuses on horticulture through the new apple and kiwi policies, among others. Awards and recognition have also placed Uttarakhand at the forefront of sustainable agricultural practices and developmental goals, enhancing both economic and employment prospects.
