Varanasi and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh have been severely affected by incessant rainfall, with water levels in the River Ganga continuously rising since Saturday. As a consequence, key areas in these cities experienced significant flooding on Monday.

In response to the escalating situation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has banned boat operations on the River Ganga and ordered urgent measures. He instructed ministers to visit their respective districts, ensure effective inspection of relief camps, and personally engage with affected families. To ensure constant monitoring, senior officials such as DMs, SPs, and CMOs have been mandated to stay on the ground.

An 11-member ministerial team has been deployed to oversee relief efforts across 12 districts, with a directive from the Chief Minister to maintain transparency and urgency. The state government prioritizes the timely delivery of high-quality relief material, including food and medicine, to all affected citizens.

The Chief Minister has also demanded round-the-clock surveillance of embankments, efficient drainage operations, and comprehensive arrangements in relief camps. The government's commitment encompasses ensuring the provision of safety, food, and healthcare to flood-impacted individuals. With forecasts suggesting continued heavy rains until August 6, Adityanath stresses combating misinformation and fortifying public communication.
