Controversy has heightened in the Indian political landscape as Congress MP Manickam Tagore moves an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, seeking urgent discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by the Election Commission in Bihar. Tagore alleges that the SIR has unfairly targeted marginalized communities, raising alarms over possible disenfranchisement spreading to other states like Assam and West Bengal.

The Congress MP expressed deep concern over more than 65 lakh voters flagged for deletion in Bihar, particularly affecting opposition-leaning and minority-populated areas. Key districts such as Gopalganj, Purnia, and Kishanganj show unusually high deletion percentages, potentially skewing electoral outcomes in favor of ruling parties.

Tagore emphasizes that the SIR lacks parliamentary scrutiny and public accountability. Highlighting former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav's exclusion from the draft voter list, he underscores the urgency for a transparent debate. Meanwhile, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya introduces the National Sports Governance Bill and amendments to the National Anti-Doping Act in the Lok Sabha, as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposes changes to the Customs Tariff Act.
