The residents of Kujri, a village nestled in Chhattisgarh's tribal-dominated Jashpur district, no longer endure the grueling journey of several kilometers to fetch drinkable water, thanks to the Jal Jeevan Mission. Previously reliant on borewells that frequently failed, villagers now luxuriate in a reliable and abundant supply of clean water.
Despite previous installations of government hand-pumps that dried up in summer, the Jal Jeevan Mission delivered a transformative solution. Two solar-powered tanks, each with a 10,000-liter capacity, now ensure a continuous drinking water supply in Kujri, alleviating the harsh conditions once faced by its residents.
The introduction of this mission not only saves residents arduous trips for water but has markedly improved health conditions by reducing waterborne diseases. With solar panels powering the tanks, electricity costs are non-existent, offering financial relief and assurance of water availability to around 56 homes in the village.
