In a heartbreaking turn of events, the Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Pravati Parida, expressed profound sorrow over the death of a 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly set ablaze by miscreants in Balanga. Parida urged against politicizing the tragedy while emphasizing that no position or price could undo the loss.
Addressing reporters, she summarized the government's relentless efforts over the past 15 days to save the girl, including airlifting her to Delhi for advanced treatment and securing foreign medicines. Parida assured the bereaved family of unwavering governmental support amidst their appeal for peaceful mourning.
The opposition, represented by BJP's Pipili MLA Ashrit Pattanayak, also acknowledged the tragedy, echoing the community's grief and recognizing the government's exhaustive efforts to save the victim. Police investigations are ongoing into the July 19 incident, as officials seek justice for the minor, whose remains were returned to Odisha on Sunday.
