Air India Express flight IX2718 faced a mid-air technical issue on Sunday, forcing it to return to Bengaluru shortly after takeoff, the airline confirmed Monday.

The aircraft circled above to burn fuel safely, adhering to standard protocols before making a precautionary landing back at the airport.

A substitute aircraft was swiftly arranged to transport affected passengers. The airline expressed regret for the disruption and reiterated its dedication to safety. Investigations are ongoing to identify the cause of the technical issue.

This incident follows numerous technical difficulties faced by the airline, including similar occurrences in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad and Kerala's Kozhikode, resulting in returned flights and passenger accommodations.
