Goa's Power Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar has confirmed the state government's stance on nuclear energy, stating that there is no proposal to establish a nuclear power facility in Goa.
In response to a query from Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA Viresh Borkar, Dhavalikar noted that since there is no plan for such a facility, public consultations have not been necessary. This comes amid concerns over Goa's ecological sensitivity and tourism-based economy.
Instead, the government is focusing on renewable energy projects, having received proposals for wind and solar power initiatives, including a 100 MW wind power plant, a 300 MW solar power project, and a 197 MW floating solar project across four dams.
