The Bastar division in Chhattisgarh is experiencing a dramatic transformation in its healthcare sector, thanks to the proactive measures led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. Through strategic governance and people-focused health policies, previously underserved areas, especially those affected by Naxal activities, are witnessing unprecedented advances in health services.
From January 2024 to June 2025, a total of 130 healthcare institutions in Bastar were certified under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS). This includes critical institutions in sensitive districts like Kanker and Bijapur. Meanwhile, efforts to issue Ayushman cards have seen 36,231 cards generated, covering over half the population, with significant financial health assistance dispensed.
The state has reinforced this progress with vital staffing boosts, appointing numerous medical specialists and officers. Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal expressed confidence in reaching uniform healthcare quality across Chhattisgarh. The ongoing Malaria-Free Campaign exemplifies the hands-on approach the government is taking to ensure robust health service delivery.
