The Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), on Tuesday, revealed a milestone achievement in its electricity trading, witnessing the highest-ever monthly volume of 12,664 million units in July, marking a significant 25.5% year-on-year increase.

This surge was complemented by the trade of 16.26 lakh Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) during the same month, as stated by IEX. Notably, market clearing prices in the Day-Ahead Market experienced a 16% reduction year-on-year, settling at Rs 4.18 per unit, while the Real-Time Market saw a 23% dip to Rs 3.83 per unit.

The Day-Ahead Market, including HPDAM, reached a volume of 5,510 MU in July 2025, showing a 9% increase from the previous year. The Real-Time Electricity Market also reported its highest-ever monthly volume of 5,109 MU. Other market segments witnessed significant growth, exemplifying an upward trend in trading volumes.
