The Indian Parliament on Wednesday witnessed intensified protests from opposition parties over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Opposition leaders, including Congress' Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, accused the government of sidestepping accountability and demanded a debate on the issue. They argue that a discussion could potentially resolve the matter if the ruling party was amenable.

Despite pleas from opposition lawmakers, the Lok Sabha was adjourned within minutes due to the uproar. Speaking to ANI, Priyanka Gandhi questioned the government's reluctance to engage in a dialogue, expressing concern over the lack of transparency on a vital democratic process. DMK MP Kanimozhi echoed these sentiments, insisting that parliamentary debate on election reforms is crucial for maintaining democratic integrity.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi criticized the government's silence, urging it to clarify its stance. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju countered, stating discussions on SIR are not feasible as it involves constitutional procedures handled by the Election Commission of India. While zero claims were filed by parties, the ECI reported significant claims and objections directly from electors, highlighting an ongoing political standoff.
