The government revealed on Wednesday that a total of 4,019 Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs) are now operational across 29 states and union territories.

Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying S P Singh Baghel confirmed in a written statement to the Rajya Sabha that there are no current plans to extend the MVU program beyond these regions.

Launched in 2021-22, the units have benefited 91.56 lakh farmers and treated 1.90 crore animals, becoming fully functional by the fiscal year 2023-24.
