In a significant stride towards harnessing solar energy, the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana has already brought the benefits of rooftop solar to over 16.51 lakh households as of July 2025, according to new data released by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.
During a session in the Lok Sabha, the Minister of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) highlighted the scheme's success since its launch in February 2024, with the aim of reaching one crore households by 2026-27. Notably, Maharashtra leads with 2,34,736 installations, while states like Arunachal Pradesh have yet to report any.
Further expanding the green energy agenda, the first Green Ammonia auction under the SIGHT programme of the National Green Hydrogen Mission has concluded, marking another milestone hailed as 'a landmark moment in India's green energy journey' by Minister Joshi. This underscores India's commitment to clean energy and self-reliance.
