Urgent Call for Arecanut Crop Damage Compensation

CAMPCO has made an urgent plea to the Karnataka government for action against relentless rainfall damage decimating key arecanut crops. The organization is seeking a formal survey and compensation for affected farmers navigating widespread fruit rot disease.
In a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, CAMPCO President A Kishore Kumar Kodgi stated that continuous rain has resulted in devastating impacts in areas like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Shivamogga, exceeding seasonal averages and jeopardizing arecanut crops.
Despite attempts to control fruit rot with fungicides, farmers face massive losses, urging the government for quick intervention. A scientific survey, swift compensation, and relief measures are considered crucial to safeguarding growers' livelihoods.
