The Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Rohit Thakur, announced that more than 300 schools have sustained damage due to the relentless monsoon rains, accruing a financial hit of approximately Rs 30 crore. As the state grapples with this climatic adversity, authorities remain vigilant to mitigate further setbacks.

During a briefing in Shimla, Thakur outlined the state's response strategy, emphasizing the autonomy granted to district and sub-divisional administrations. This flexibility allows local officials to make prompt decisions, such as instituting holidays in flood-impacted regions, including Shimla and Mandi, where safety concerns for school children are paramount.

Thakur detailed how alternative educational arrangements have been made in severely affected areas, using spaces like Panchayat Ghars and community centers to host classes. Despite the early stage of the monsoon season, efforts continue to ensure educational activities face minimal disruption, supported by both government initiatives and community contributions.
