Heroic Rescues Amid Uttarkashi Calamity: Helicopters in Action

Following a catastrophic cloudburst in Uttarkashi, rescue operations have intensified to evacuate hundreds stranded by the subsequent mudslide. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) DIG Gambhir Singh Chauhan stated that helicopters are now being used to assist in these efforts.
Coordination among the Indian Army, NDRF, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local administration has been crucial in managing both ground and aerial rescues. "Four teams were unable to reach Dharali due to blocked roads, but 35 personnel made it via helicopters," Chauhan explained, noting that communication and logistical hurdles were gradually being overcome.
Affecting many en route to Gangotri, survivors expressed gratitude for the swift emergency responses. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's support and the heroic efforts by various agencies, including the Indian Air Force and local volunteers, have been instrumental in rescuing over 190 individuals from the disaster-stricken areas.
