Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, conducted a review of the counter-terrorism grid in South Kashmir on Thursday, receiving briefings about the current security landscape. The Indian Army's Northern Command shared on X that Lt Gen Sharma assessed the situation, emphasizing the ongoing state of operational readiness and the progress of current operations.

Lt Gen Sharma commended the unwavering dedication and strength demonstrated by the troops, reinforcing the Army's firm commitment to maintaining peace and security in the area. Concurrently, security forces marked the anniversary of Article 370's abrogation with continued operations in Kulgam, specifically in the Akhal Devsar region, now entering its fifth consecutive day.

According to the Chinar Corps, a terrorist was killed during an overnight encounter in Akhal, part of a joint operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and SOG. The Chinar Corps announced on X that the intense firefight persisted, with sharp responses from the forces tightening their hold. Lt Gen Sharma's earlier visit to Dachigam commended troops for their successful execution of Operation Mahadev.
