Indian leaders criticize President Trump's recent 25% tariff on Indian imports due to Russian oil purchases. They argue it won't harm India's economy or unity and call for a parliamentary resolution. Amidst escalating tensions, Indian political figures have come out strongly against U.S. President Donald Trump's latest move to impose an additional 25% tariff on Indian imports. This decision follows India's sustained purchase of Russian oil, which Trump claims poses a national security threat to the U.S.

Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad criticized the decision, declaring that Trump's threats won't deter India's economic progress or societal cohesion. He urged for a parliamentary motion to formally denounce Trump's actions and reaffirmed India's global standing as resistant to external pressure.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari condemned the economic burden, warning it could damage Indian exports. India's External Affairs Ministry described the tariffs as unjust and promised necessary measures to safeguard its national interests. U.S. officials, however, downplayed the comparison between Indian and U.S. imports of Russian oil.
