The Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, inaugurated the second edition of UN Women's flagship capacity-building program, SheLeads II, in New Delhi, aimed at empowering women leaders across India.
The workshop coincides with the recent passing of the Women's Reservation Act, 2023, ensuring 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies. Currently, women hold only 14% of seats in the 18th Lok Sabha. Such initiatives help bridge this gap by fostering dialogue and building crucial political leadership skills.
In her keynote address, Minister Devi underscored the importance of women's leadership in achieving a Viksit Bharat and fulfilling global development goals. The event, supported by Norway, witnessed participation from 36 selected women eager to amplify women's voices in governance.
