Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday inaugurated the Lalbagh Flower Show 2025 in Bangalore, paying homage to Kittur Rani Channamma and Sangolli Rayanna, both known for their valiant resistance against British colonialism. The Chief Minister also revealed plans to allocate 110 acres of land at the execution site of Rayanna to honor his legacy.

Addressing the press, Siddaramaiah emphasized, "This event celebrates the courage of Kittur Queen Channamma, who led two wars against the British, winning one and later captured in the second. Her army was inclusive of all castes. Rayanna, her trusted lieutenant, faced execution in 1931 for his bravery. The new land allocation symbolizes our tribute to these heroes."

Earlier, on August 5, Siddaramaiah openly criticized BJP's R Ashok, highlighting his alleged failures to manage transport workers' grievances during his tenure. Amidst ongoing strikes, Siddaramaiah charged Ashok with hypocrisy, stating, "In power, you displayed a facade; now, in opposition, you continue the guise." He referenced the previous government's inability to resolve a significant 15-day strike during Ashok's time as Transport Minister, accusing him of being passive and ineffective.
