The Election Commission of India (ECI) has confronted Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi, urging him to either sign a declaration from Chief Electoral Officers in Maharashtra and Karnataka or apologize for what they termed as 'absurd' allegations.
According to ECI sources, Rahul Gandhi's belief in his claims necessitates his signing of the declaration. If not, the implication is that he does not stand by his analysis, requiring a national apology.
These developments arise after Gandhi alleged the presence of 1,00,250 'fake votes' in Karnataka and pressed for substantial evidence. The state's Chief Electoral Officer asked him to submit a signed affidavit to initiate necessary proceedings.
