The Uttarkashi-Harsil bridge, crucial for transporting machinery and relief supplies, has been rebuilt after a massive mudslide and flash floods wreaked havoc in Dharali and Harsil on August 5, according to officials. The disasters, triggered by a cloudburst, led to significant destruction, including the sweeping away of several homes.

Uttarakhand's Director General of Police, Deepam Seth, conducted a review of the initial relief operations under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's directive. At a high-level meeting in Dehradun, attended by senior police officers and team leaders, strategies for the continuing relief efforts were discussed, with a focus on search and rescue enhancements.

The updated action plan includes sectoring the incident site for targeted operations and involves coordination with multiple agencies like the Army, ITBP, and NDRF. The DGP has emphasized preparing accurate missing persons' lists for prioritizing search efforts and deploying resources like drones and thermal imaging for efficient rescue operations.
