IMD Warns of Stormy Weather in Haryana and Punjab

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall across various parts of Haryana and Punjab between 8:01 AM and 11:01 AM on Monday. Areas in Haryana, including Radaur, Barara, Jagadhri, and Chhachhrauli, are expected to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph.

Moderate rainfall is anticipated in additional regions such as Indri, Thanesar, Ambala, and Panchkula, while light rain is forecasted for cities including Chandigarh and Kalka. The weather department has issued a red alert for Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, predicting moderate thunderstorms with gusts of 41-61 kmph and heavy rainfall exceeding 15 mm per hour until 10:55 AM.

A yellow alert is in place for Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Karnal, indicating less intense conditions with rainfall predictions under 5 mm per hour. In Punjab, moderate rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is expected in Dera Bassi, with light rain anticipated in other areas, including Patiala, Rajpura, and Mohali. Residents are advised to brace for sudden weather changes and exercise caution to minimize risks associated with these conditions.
