PM Modi Unveils Modern Housing for MPs in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly constructed Type-VII multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament at Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New Delhi on Monday. At the event, the Prime Minister planted a Sindoor sapling and met with the 'shramjeevis,' the laborers behind this significant project.

Prominent figures such as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Ministers Manohar Lal and Kiren Rijiju joined the launch ceremony. The facility is designed with self-sufficiency in mind and boasts a suite of modern amenities tailored to meet MPs' functional needs. According to a press release, the project adheres to green technology standards, achieving a GRIHA 3-star rating and aligning with the National Building Code of 2016.

The complex also emphasizes environmental sustainability, contributing to energy conservation and effective waste management. The project was completed using advanced monolithic concrete and aluminium shuttering, ensuring both durability and a timely finish. Designed to be Divyangjan-friendly, the complex demonstrates a commitment to inclusive architecture, with units offering ample space and dedicated areas for work, living, and community activities.

Addressing safety, the buildings meet modern earthquake-resistant standards, while a robust security system has been installed to protect residents. The development was driven by a housing shortage for MPs and encourages vertical growth to optimize land use and reduce maintenance costs.

Situated strategically at BKS Marg, the complex provides MPs with significant locational advantages, primarily due to its closeness to the Parliament House Complex, underlining its convenience for legislative activities. (ANI)
