No political parties have lodged objections or claims concerning the amended draft electoral roll in Bihar, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). The ECI's latest bulletin indicated that, as of Monday morning, responses from national or state parties amid the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise remain absent.
Conversely, more than 10,570 individual voters have raised claims and objections during this period. Out of these, 127 objections have already been addressed. The ECI received 54,432 new voter registration forms for citizens turning 18, highlighting active engagement at a personal level.
Nonetheless, the lack of party-level action hasn't quelled opposition unrest. Critics challenge the SIR's legitimacy, suggesting potential bias toward the ruling party, BJP. The Congress, spearheading dissent, is scheduled for a meeting with the ECI to discuss alleged voter list tampering. Accusations of fraud and violation of constitutional processes fuel ongoing protests, ramping up political tensions.
