Swift Response in Kishtwar: Relief and Rebuilding Efforts Underway

In a prompt relief initiative, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday reviewed the rescue and aid operations in Kishtwar's flash-flood-stricken Chashoti area, instructing authorities to prioritize continuous supply of necessities to the affected residents. LG Sinha made a firm commitment to facilitate the rebuilding of homes ravaged by the floods.
Sharing the update on social media platform X, Sinha stated, "Interacted with senior officials and assessed the rescue and relief endeavors at Chashoti, Kishtwar. Our focus is on reconstructing homes demolished by flash floods and ensuring swift aid delivery to those affected." Concurrently, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah declared ex-gratia payments, offering Rs 2 lakh to families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for those seriously injured.
Further support from the Jammu and Kashmir Government includes Rs 50,000 for minor injuries, Rs 1 lakh for completely destroyed structures, and Rs 50,000 for significant damage—funded through the CM's Relief Fund. After visiting the disaster-hit Kishtwar areas, CM Abdullah emphasized government solidarity, promising rapid restoration of damaged infrastructure following the lethal cloudburst that claimed over 60 lives.
