Guwahati witnessed a significant development in its sporting landscape as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially launched the Gauhati Town Club (GTC) Football Academy. Nestled amid greenery at Uttar Fuling in North Guwahati, the academy boasts modern infrastructure, including two state-of-the-art football grounds and a 60-bed residential facility.

Addressing the event, Dr. Sarma emphasized the academy's potential in nurturing young talent, asserting that such world-class infrastructure was previously scarce in the region. Concurrently, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Academy was inaugurated, reflecting broader sports growth in the state with new high-performance centers attracting outside investment.

GTC's General Secretary, Devajit Saikia, marked the inauguration as a milestone moment for sports in Assam, crediting a 2018 Bengaluru visit that inspired this development. Notably, former India captain Renedy Singh has joined the GTC Football Academy as a mentor. Dignitaries, including government officials and industry leaders, graced the program.
