In a shocking incident on Saturday afternoon, a 30-year-old man sustained critical injuries when his throat was slit by a synthetic kite string, known as Chinese manjha, near Tughlakabad Metro Station, Delhi. The Delhi Police reported receiving a PCR call at the Badarpur police station around 4:40 pm about the incident. The police quickly responded to the location, discovering the victim, Rajneesh from Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district, in a dire state.
The victim was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where doctors continue to combat his critical condition. Initial investigations suggest the red-colored synthetic manjha, although banned for its deadly potential, was the cause. This incident underscores the ongoing and grave concerns about its illegal sale and use within the national capital.
In response to rising safety threats posed by Chinese manjha, authorities have intensified their crackdown. Earlier efforts from Nand Nagri Police Station led to the apprehension of two brothers caught with 325 rolls of this hazardous string. Police have launched a dedicated drive targeting its distribution and use, pressing charges against offenders under relevant legal frameworks.
