In a tragic incident on Monday, a jawan was killed and two others were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxalites in the National Park area of Bijapur district, according to a police official. IG Bastar P Sundarraj reported that the blast occurred during an anti-Maoist operation conducted by the District Reserve Guard (DRG).

The fallen jawan has been identified as Dinesh Nag, while three others injured in the blast are in stable condition and receiving necessary medical attention. Enhanced details regarding the operation are expected to follow shortly.

In an earlier successful operation on August 14, security forces neutralized two high-profile Naxal cadres in a gun battle in Chhattisgarh's Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district. Vijay Reddy and Lokesh Salame, who carried bounties of Rs 90 lakh and Rs 26 lakh respectively, were killed by the Chhattisgarh Police, District Reserve Guard (DRG), and the 27th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). This significant victory is considered a major blow to Naxal activities in the region.
