In a landmark achievement for Rajasthan's green initiatives, the state has successfully planted over 10 crore saplings under its 'Hariyalo Rajasthan' campaign. State Forest and Environment Minister, Sanjay Sharma, met with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to celebrate this significant milestone.
Chief Minister Sharma took the opportunity to underscore the campaign's origins, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. He announced that the government aims to plant 50 crore trees over the next five years. The 'Hariyalo Rajasthan' initiative, launched on Hariyali Teej, incorporates geo-tagging to ensure sapling survival.
Efforts have seen widespread involvement from various state departments and the public. The Education Department planted 3.25 crore saplings, Rural Development 2.65 crore, and the Pollution Control Board 50 lakh. This collective effort underscores the state's commitment to environmental protection and a greener future for the coming generations.
