In an alarming incident on Tuesday evening, more than 300 passengers were successfully evacuated after a monorail in Mumbai broke down due to a power failure near Mysore Colony station, as confirmed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The issue was initially highlighted by a passenger, Jivan Mhatre.

Emergency services, including an ambulance unit, BMC staff, the Mumbai Fire Brigade, and local police, quickly arrived at the scene to commence rescue operations. Six passengers who suffered from suffocation were promptly treated and subsequently discharged. Sunil, another passenger, reported that the rescue began an hour after the incident, noting that the train was heavily crowded with approximately 500 passengers.

Passengers endured the situation patiently, and challenges were particularly pronounced for senior citizens and children, according to eyewitness accounts. BMC, along with fire department personnel and the police, ensured swift rescue actions. Additional Municipal Commissioner Amit Saini assured that rescue efforts were ongoing.

Authorities coordinated with the BMC helpline for immediate assistance. The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) communicated via social media that services on the affected route were ongoing on a single track and pledged to restore full operations soon.
