Tragic Incident: Woman Dies After Being Set Ablaze in Uruvachal
A 39-year-old woman from Uruvachal, identified as Praveena, died after being set on fire by a 40-year-old man. The suspect, Jijesh, attacked her at home and suffered burns himself. Police are set to file murder charges following her death.

A woman tragically died after being set on fire by a 40-year-old man in Uruvachal, Kuttiyattoor, on Thursday. The victim, Praveena, aged 39, and wife of Ajeesh, sustained critical burns in the assault that occurred on Wednesday.
The suspect, Jijesh, from Kuttav, allegedly doused Praveena with fuel and ignited her. He also suffered burn injuries and is currently receiving medical care at Pariyaram Government Medical College Hospital. The official report states that Jijesh went to Praveena's rented home around 2 pm requesting water, and subsequently attacked her in the backyard during her chores.
Local residents, alarmed by her cries, rushed to the scene, taking both Praveena and Jijesh to the hospital. Police are expected to charge Jijesh with murder following Praveena's death. He is currently booked under Section 332 (house trespass to commit an offence) and Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
