In a deeply disturbing incident, an 18-year-old has been apprehended following his alleged involvement in setting a 26-year-old female teacher on fire in Madhya Pradesh's Narsinghpur district, officials disclosed on Thursday. The gruesome crime occurred in the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station.
The Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Bhuria, informed ANI that a criminal case has been registered against the accused. The victim, who is reportedly stable, has been transported to Jabalpur for medical care. Preliminary inquiries reveal that the youth, who was a student at the same school, was acquainted with the victim. Further probes are actively being pursued to unravel the motive behind the act.
In another tragic episode, Praveena, a 39-year-old woman, succumbed to her injuries after a 40-year-old man allegedly doused her in fuel and ignited her in Uruvachal, Kuttiyattoor, Kerala. The accused, Jijesh, suffered burns as well and is currently receiving medical treatment. The attack, which unfolded at Praveena's rented home, saw the involvement of neighbors who rushed the injured parties to the hospital.
