Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Gujarat on August 25 and 26, where he will inaugurate a significant housing project in Ahmedabad. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), 1,449 houses and 130 shops, constructed at a cost of Rs 133.42 crore, will be unveiled in the Nikol area. The project promises modern amenities to families residing in slum areas.

Gujarat has seen remarkable success with the PMAY (Urban), surpassing its target by sanctioning 9.66 lakh houses against 7.64 lakh planned, while 9.07 lakh have been completed. The state has garnered recognition from the Central Government, achieving multiple national awards in 2019 and 2022, reflecting its leadership in housing development.

Additionally, the state has introduced various incentives under PMAY (Rural), such as an extra Rs 50,000 per house at the roof-cast level and bonuses for early completion, which have supported thousands of beneficiaries. The Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHC) Scheme and the Light House Project further cement Gujarat's status as a housing innovation leader.
