In a pioneering initiative, the Corporation Primary School in Edamalaipatti Pudur, Trichy, is setting a new benchmark by integrating QR codes into student uniforms, bringing them on par with private institutions. The move is aimed at enhancing student safety and facilitating easy identification. The school hosts 650 students from Classes 1 to 5, with 130 students in Class 1 alone.
Thanks to the concerted efforts of Headmistress Pushpalatha, her teaching staff, and the support from Tamil Nadu government funds, corporation funds, and private contributions, the school boasts state-of-the-art facilities. These include smart classrooms, smart boards, and creatively designed railway coach-style painted classrooms. The addition of QR codes on uniforms is another feather in its cap, marking a notable first in the state.
Every Wednesday, students don color-coded T-shirts with QR codes. Scanning these codes instantly reveals student information such as class and school name. Teacher Latha Roslin shared with ANI that the QR code uniform helps in easy identification, especially if a child goes missing. Future plans include embedding comprehensive details like name and parents' address into these QR codes. The school also plans to make QR codes a permanent fixture in the uniforms as badges.
