Union Minister and Gujarat BJP President CR Paatil declared a nationwide array of 'Sewa' (service) initiatives on Tuesday, commemorating significant September dates, notably Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on the 17th. Paatil spoke to ANI in Surat, applauding the city for being named India's cleanest for the first time and announcing plans to honor 6,000 sanitation workers.
Paatil outlined ongoing welfare and service programs scheduled from September 17 to October 2, marking Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17 will see various Sewa initiatives launched nationwide,' he noted. 'October 2 is Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, and September 25 celebrates Deendayal's legacy, prompting diverse programs across Gujarat and the nation.'
Surat's sanitation accolade, with Modi's guidance credited, sets the backdrop for the city's September 17 ceremony honoring sanitation workers and their families. Complementing this, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel opened a Gandhinagar blood donation camp on Tuesday, previewing nationwide BJP-organized blood donation efforts for Modi's approaching 75th birthday. The 'Sewa Pakhwada' campaign includes cleanliness drives, the 'ek ped maa ke naam' initiative, and exhibitions spotlighting Modi's accomplishments. State health officials report over one lakh government staff signed up to bolster the campaign.
