The Delhi government has unveiled a financial assistance scheme aimed at supporting caregivers of persons with disabilities who require high support. Announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the initiative provides Rs 6,000 monthly for costs related to caregiving, including therapy and assistive devices.
This effort, approved by the Delhi Cabinet and set to be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aligns with societal inclusion goals. Beneficiaries must be residents of Delhi for at least five years and have an annual family income below Rs 1 lakh.
By targeting individuals with a disability score of 60 to 100, the scheme seeks to alleviate the financial burdens of care and encourage the active social participation and self-reliance of persons with disabilities.
