Breaking Barriers: Transgender Persons Appointed as Metro Guards in Hyderabad

The Telangana government has taken a significant step towards inclusivity by appointing 20 transgender individuals as security guards for Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited. This move is part of the broader vision of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to ensure transgender persons live with dignity and self-respect.
State Minister for Transgender Persons, Adluri Laxman Kumar, emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the transgender community by handing over appointment letters personally. Highlighting various initiatives, Senior Bureaucrat Anita Ramachandran discussed programs directed towards the community's welfare, such as special counseling rooms in hospitals, skill development, and financial aid.
Earlier this year, the Telangana government recruited 39 transgender persons as traffic assistants, marking a consistent effort to integrate the community into the workforce, thus reaffirming its stand on social inclusivity and gender equality.
