The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced a temporary suspension of monorail operations starting September 20. This decision seeks to enhance the monorail's infrastructure and efficiency.

The temporary halt will facilitate the seamless installation and testing of new rakes and the integration of an advanced Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system. MMRDA also plans to overhaul existing rakes to eliminate technical glitches, train personnel, and reposition them for forthcoming metro projects.

Monorail services between Chembur and Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk will be offline until further notice, urging commuters to adjust their travel plans accordingly. Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and MMRDA's Chairman, emphasized that the enhancements will contribute significantly to the monorail's reliability and safety.
