Congress MP Karti Chidambaram urged the Election Commission to investigate the allegations made by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, concerning 'vote theft'. Chidambaram emphasized that Gandhi's concerns about the legitimacy of the voter list are valid, as significant discrepancies have emerged, especially in Karnataka's Mahadevapura constituency.
According to Chidambaram, an alarming number of authentic voters are being removed from the list, while numerous fictitious entries have been identified. He highlighted that the Election Commission lists over 68 residents at a single address, with some possessing bizarre names. This, he argued, raises doubts about the authenticity of the electoral roll.
As the Election Commission faces mounting pressure to address these issues, Congress leader Pawan Khera announced that Rahul Gandhi would hold a press briefing on September 18 at the Indira Bhawan Auditorium. Gandhi has hinted at further explosive revelations following his previous 'atom bomb' criticisms against the BJP. The Congress leader has accused forces associated with Mahatma Gandhi's assassination of attempting to undermine India's Constitution.
