Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a thorough review on Thursday following a devastating cloudburst in Chamoli district, which impacted over 200 residents, from the Emergency Operations Centre in Dehradun. The disaster, triggered by severe rainfall, led to significant damage across several state regions.
Addressing media representatives, CM Dhami offered crucial updates, revealing that at least 35 houses suffered damage, 20 individuals sustained injuries, and 14 people remain missing in the aftermath of the late Wednesday event. 'All rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police are on site. Injured individuals are receiving medical care, with those critically injured being transferred to AIIMS Rishikesh,' stated the Chief Minister. The NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, and police are actively involved in rescue efforts.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the ongoing Char Dham Yatra, urging pilgrims to schedule their visits according to the weather updates provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). He emphasized the importance of accelerating relief efforts in the afflicted regions, ensuring timely provision of essential materials, and priority reopening of blocked roads. Further, CM Dhami instructed immediate restoration of key services such as water and electricity supplies, and directed constant vigilance and assistance from district administration in disaster-hit areas.
