In a significant move to enhance educational opportunities for marginalized communities, the Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is spearheading initiatives for Scheduled Caste students. These efforts were announced by Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur at a press conference, outlining historic steps to ensure equitable access to education.

Addressing the press at Punjab Bhawan, Kaur unveiled reforms in the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, targeting long-standing issues of fund misappropriation. The scheme has seen a sharp rise in beneficiaries, from 1,76,842 students in 2022 to 2,37,456 this year, marking a 35 percent increase. Future targets set for 2025-26 anticipate 2.70 lakh students receiving support, alongside awareness campaigns to reach eligible candidates.

Further developments include the introduction of an Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste students and children of landless farmers to study at top global universities with full financial support. Additionally, a two-month PCS Crash Course has been launched to prepare SC, BC, and minority students for civil services, signaling the government's commitment to affordable and accessible education for all.
