Himachal Pradesh has triumphed over considerable challenges brought on by torrential rains this season, ensuring that a record 1,73,74,204 apple boxes made their way to the markets. This achievement came despite extensive road damages across the state between June 27 and September 15, according to a government statement.
The report highlights a notable improvement compared to last year, when 1,23,18,924 boxes reached the markets during the same period. Swift government action restored damaged roads, or established temporary connections, to facilitate seamless apple transportation during the peak season.
A government spokesperson emphasized the significant sales surge across key Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs) such as Shimla, Kinnaur, Mandi, Solan, and Kullu. This resilient apple sector remains a Rs 4,500-crore economic cornerstone for the state, with governmental dedication ensuring growers experience minimal disruption.
