Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has launched a historic milestone with the inauguration of the Asian Cadet Cup India-2025 in Haldwani. Organized by the Fencing Association of India, this event represents India's first international-level fencing competition and underscores the nation's growing prowess in the sport.

In his inaugural speech, Dhami expressed optimism about India's future in fencing, noting its rising popularity and its potential to bring international glory, akin to other sports like shooting and archery. He detailed government support schemes, including the Chief Minister Sports Development Fund, aimed at nurturing young athletes and providing opportunities through incentives and awards.

The Chief Minister also emphasized sports infrastructure investments, noting a Rs 517 crore deployment for developing world-class facilities. He announced plans for 23 new sports academies and highlighted the anticipated economic benefits, including enhanced local business activity and tourism. The event sees participation from over 250 athletes from countries like Tajikistan, Syria, and Malaysia. (ANI)
