In a tragic incident in Manipur's Bishnupur district, two Assam Rifles personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer, were killed in a terrorist attack, senior security officials have confirmed. The attack also left five others injured.
The assault occurred on September 19 at approximately 5:50 pm when troops from the 33 Assam Rifles were traveling between their Patsoi and Nambol Company Operating Bases. Terrorists ambushed the troops' vehicle in the Nambol Sabal Leikai area, opening fire and then escaping in a white van.
The wounded have been transported to RIMS Hospital and are reportedly in stable condition. Officials noted that the troops exercised caution during their retaliation to prevent civilian casualties. Despite no group claiming responsibility so far, search operations have been initiated to locate the terrorists involved.
