The Safety Matters Foundation has petitioned India's Supreme Court to mandate the government to make public all data related to the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025. The NGO argues that the preliminary crash investigation report failed to release crucial information.
According to the plea, the Ministry of Civil Aviation's report did not fully comply with the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2017, which require comprehensive disclosure of crash data. The requested data includes the Digital Flight Data Recorder output, Cockpit Voice Recorder transcripts, and technical advisories.
The plea also criticizes the report for ignoring testimony from Vishwashkumar Ramesh, the crash's sole survivor, and stresses the broader implications for public trust in aviation safety. It calls for a thorough investigation to uphold citizens' safety and trust in aviation.
